Citizens of California are Looking for Long-Term Drug Rehab
Methamphetamine is the primary drug threat in California. Mexican organizations continue to dominate the production and distribution of high-quality meth, while a secondary trafficking group, composed of mostly Caucasians, operates small, unsophisticated laboratories. Methamphetamine laboratories can be found in almost any location: high density residential neighborhoods, sparsely populated rural areas, remote desert locations in southern California and even in the forested areas in northern California. According to Drug Enforcement Administration, there were 2,236.2 kilograms of methamphetamine seized by the federal government in the state of California during 2008. As you can see, the methamphetamine problem is at an all time high and has become a major problem for the citizens of California. California Needs Drug Rehab Now
There are many issues that affect the drug situation in California. The diverse culture and unique geography play a major role in trafficking and distribution of a variety of drugs throughout the state. Mexican trafficking organizations, working closely with Colombian suppliers dominate the wholesale cocaine trade and much of the black and brown tar heroin and methamphetamine trade. West African and Southeast Asian nationals are also involved in the distribution and transportation of Asian heroin. MDMA is widely available throughout the state and is supplied by Asian drug trafficking organizations. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, there were 8,508.5 kilograms of cocaine, 377.6 kilograms of heroin, 2,236.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, 187,627.1 kilograms of marijuana, 25.9 kilograms of hashish and 7.6 kilograms of MDMA seized by the federal government in 2008. The drug and crime problem in California is at an all time high. There is a serious need for an effective drug addiction treatment program. Crime and drug addiction coincide with each other and are making the residents of California feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. The only real solution to this problem is a long-term in-patient residential drug addiction treatment program. According to the U.S. Sentencing Commission, 30.4% of the Federally-sentenced defendants in California committed a drug offense. Although drug courts have slightly deterred criminals and substance abusers from committing crimes and using alcohol and drugs, they haven’t offered any real solution or answers to this widespread problem. California Residents are Seeking Drug and Alcohol Rehab
The drug and alcohol problem in the state of California is on the rise and residents of this state are in immediate need of effective drug and alcohol rehab. According to the California DUI Fact Sheet, there were 203,866 total DUI’s in the state of California in 2007. In addition to the huge number of arrests for driving under the influence in this state, the National Survey of Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) indicates that 880,000 California citizens reported illicit drug dependence or abuse within the past year. Approximately 618,000 citizens reported past year illicit drug dependence. There is obviously a major demand for drug and alcohol rehab that is not being met.
