The drug and crime problem in California is at an all time high. There is a serious need for an effective drug addiction treatment program. Crime and drug addiction coincide with each other and are making the residents of California feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. The only real solution to this problem is a long-term in-patient residential drug addiction treatment program. According to the U.S. Sentencing Commission, 30.4% of the Federally-sentenced defendants in California committed a drug offense. Although drug courts have slightly deterred criminals and substance abusers from committing crimes and using alcohol and drugs, they haven’t offered any real solution or answers to this widespread problem.
